Higgs

Higgs field is a matrix out here in which the vibration is occuring.   Specifically it is the (hypothesised) field in which the whatevers (the W and Z strings, branes) are vobrating.  Is Higgs field the ether? or one of the ethers?

"Higgs field...is a sort of hypothetical lattice which fills our Universe.  We need it...(to) explain why the Z and W particles (of the weak force) are so heavy." (Davic Miller)

In 1966 Peter Higgs, an Edinburgh physicist, had the idea that material particles (fermions [hadrons {quarks}and leptons {electrons and neutrinos}]) and force carrying particles (bosons {photons, gravitons, gluons, W+ W- Z}) have no mass when they are created but take on mass when they travel through space.  Higgs imagined a kind of "fluid" which fills the universe and which affects the motion of particles. c.f. ether.

The Higgs field should have a corresponding particle, the Higgs particle or Higgs boson.
