Surface Immune Stimulants

1/ surface immune stimulants.

You may wish to use surface immune stimulants for immediate benefit in acute infections. They include:-

Boneset   Eupatorium perfoliatum

surface immune stimulant, diaphoretic, lymphatic, digestive tonic

useful in long term debilitating conditions
useful with toxic conditions

Cat’s Claw, Unatogada    Uncaria tomentosa, U. guianensis

surface immune stimulant, antifungal, antibacterial, antineoplastic

contraindicated for liver inflammation
contraindicated in children, in the elderly
do not use longer than 2 months!
use in small doses as a "potentizer"!

Elecampane    Inula helenium

surface immune stimulant, antifungal, antibacterial, adaptogen(possibly), expectorant, digestive tonic, respiratory tonic, vermifuge.

Synergistic with Echinacea (but Michael suggests that it is not useful in fever: therefore for instance you might not use it in pneumonia (with fever) but might use it in T.B. (without fever) - because it is a heating herb.)

Purple Cone Flower   Echinacea spp.

surface immune stimulant, antibacterial, antiviral (possibly), antineoplastic, lymphatic, alterative.

As a surface immune stimulant it should be "pulsed" rather than used continuously. That is, you can use it intensely for a few days, but then take a break. This is not on account of any toxicity, but rather on account of efficacy. As an alterative ("blood cleanser") is can be used on a long term basis.

Pau d’Arco, Taheebo    Tabebuia spp.

surface immune stimulant, antifungal, antineoplastic, detoxification, lymphatic

Taheebo is also a week deep immune tonic.
It is useful in fungal infections with, for instance, Golden Seal,
It is useful in haemopoitic cancers (the blood cancers) and
it is useful in lung cancer with, for instance, Elecampane, Golden Seal, and Sanginaria (Blood Root).
