Sookrah and I have been chronicling, pictorially, Darcy's story from the time
she received a diagnosis of breast cancer, through her mastectomy and chemo. The
paintings pack an emotional charge, though what we observed were Darcy's courage,
spirit, optimism, and love of life. Darcy
says, for her, the show is about options, choices. Everyone expected her to wear
a wig during chemo. A young woman, who Darcy is mentoring, said Darcy was the
first person to suggest to her that "reconstruction" is an option, not
