here watching my friend die

reaching for monuments

tripping back to catch
a stream

past and present
wondering if the past is gone

you’ve only yourself to blame

death’s alright
I say
the harrowed soul
has nowhere to go
except to implode

the petulant child’s complaint
perpetuated without restraint

I don’t know how much longer is left
we’ll probably go together
remnants slipping into oblivion
walking down the meadow path
I stumbled on oh I forget
is a lea a meadow?
down by the pond
there are flowers left in remembrance

they’re tattering

they have no impact
