inattention and a sagging roof…
Feb 12th, 2009 by Norman
inattention and a sagging roof
seen through the window
while breaking from meditating
to write down sundry thoughts
once I tried to save the world
then I tried to save my soul
now I try to make it through the day
once I tried to save the world
then I tried to save my soul
now I try to make it through the day
once I tried…
there’s a mist from the February thaw
and its warm or dismal
as I call
it warm or dismal
I blow out the candle
to reduce the violence
my carbon foot-print this morning
across the way
the garage roof sags under the weight
of the snow
the years
and I’m still here
with little accomplished
breath in
breath out
and so much ephemera
caught under my nails
I’ll clean it spanking new
and bring this poor excuse of a poem
to you
cause you know
once I tried to save the world
then I tried to save my soul
now I try to make it through the day
